Local author and speaker Bob Morrison has published a new book titled Compelled, drawing on more than two decades of experience responding to some of the world’s most significant disasters.
Originally from Indiana, Morrison has made Hannibal his home after a long career that placed him on the front lines of crises such as the Joplin tornado, Hurricane Katrina, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and the aftermath of the September 11 attacks at Ground Zero in New York City.
A respiratory therapist by profession, Morrison has worked in emergency rooms across the country and served on helicopter transport teams. His work in high-stakes medical and rescue environments has shaped the emotional and spiritual themes that run through Compelled.
The book, based on true events, takes readers on a journey that blends adventure with introspection, encouraging personal growth beyond one’s comfort zone. In addition to his clinical and disaster-response background, Morrison has also served as a firefighter, business owner, and pastor—roles that have informed his storytelling with a unique blend of compassion and perspective.
Compelled follows Morrison’s earlier work Ashes to Ashes: 9/11, and expands his exploration of trauma, resilience, and faith. He also hosts a weekly podcast, also titled Compelled, which is recorded from a studio on Main Street in downtown Hannibal. The podcast is available on Spotify, Amazon, and iHeartRadio.
The book is currently available for purchase on Amazon and at several retail locations in and around the Hannibal area.
