Local author Kristin Lane will host a book signing and discussion at the South Plainfield Public Library on Thursday, May 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Lane, a longtime borough resident, will present her debut fiction novel, Abandoned, which will be available for purchase and signing following the event.
A Green Brook native who has lived in South Plainfield for 38 years, Lane describes herself as a devoted supporter of the local library. Abandoned, her first published work, tells the story of Halle Cordanado, a young woman from fictional South Paw, Indiana, whose life is transformed by adoption following the loss of her parents and aunt.
“It popped into my mind and I wrote what was in my head,” Lane said, reflecting on the inspiration behind the novel.
Though not a full-time writer, Lane is currently working on a sequel titled Saved, as well as a children’s book, My Pal Mugsy. She expressed excitement about connecting with readers at the upcoming signing.
“What I am looking forward to at the book signing is meeting new people and learning about their response to me and my book,” she said.
Lane does not maintain an online presence or personal website, but Abandoned is available for purchase in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle formats on Amazon. It is also offered in softcover and e-book formats through the Xlibris online bookstore.
“I am a home-grown New Jerseyan that lives in South Plainfield and just trying to eke out an existence,” Lane added.
The South Plainfield Public Library, located at 2484 Plainfield Avenue, is hosting a variety of events throughout May. Residents are encouraged to visit the library’s website to sign up for adult and children’s newsletters to stay informed about upcoming programs.
