BritBox, known for its extensive collection of Agatha Christie adaptations, has announced a new addition to its lineup: a six-part contemporary series based on the beloved detective duo Tommy and Tuppence.
The upcoming show, titled Tommy & Tuppence, will be produced by Lookout Point—renowned for Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack—in collaboration with Agatha Christie Limited. The series is a modern take on the classic novels and short stories featuring the romantically complex and crime-solving partners, Tommy and Tuppence.
Phoebe Eclair-Powell, known for The Road Trip and Harm, is the series’ writer. Describing the opportunity as a “dream come true,” Eclair-Powell expressed gratitude to James Prichard, Christie’s grandson, and Agatha Christie Limited for entrusting her with the project. “Tommy and Tuppence are witty, sharp, and eager to unravel numerous mysteries, all while navigating their on-again, off-again relationship,” she said. “Bringing these characters into the twenty-first century is truly an honor.”
BritBox North America President Robert Schildhouse characterized the series as “a fun blend of romance and mystery.” Lookout Point Executive Director Katie Draper added that viewers can expect a “screwball comedy, playful romance, and thrilling murder.”
At this stage, casting details and a U.S. release date have yet to be announced, indicating that the project is still in its early development phase.
The announcement further bolsters BritBox’s reputation as a go-to platform for Agatha Christie adaptations, joining its current offerings such as Towards Zero, Murder Is Easy, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, Poirot, Marple, and The Pale Horse.
