Local author and entrepreneur Leslie A. Christensen has released a new memoir, Découverte (Discovered): Lessons I Learned from My French Adventure, published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.
In the book, Christensen recounts a deeply personal journey through France that she undertook at the age of 62. Traveling solo, she explored Paris, drove through the countryside, visited small villages, and forged connections with strangers who left lasting impressions. What began as a travel experience evolved into a path of self-discovery, personal growth, and transformation.
Part memoir, part self-help guide, Découverte (Discovered) blends humor and introspection as Christensen reflects on lessons learned through embracing uncertainty, trusting her instincts, and uncovering inner resilience. The narrative invites readers to consider their own capacity for reinvention, regardless of age or circumstance.
Christensen draws upon her rich personal and professional background throughout the memoir. A fiber artist and fashion designer by trade, she has owned several women’s boutiques, including Frilly Frocks in Phoenix and More or Leslie in Cottonwood. Known for designing clothing for “real” women of all shapes and sizes, she often names garments after friends and acquaintances who inspired her work.
Currently employed at Idaho National Laboratory, Christensen is recognized internationally for her expertise in Knowledge Transfer. She is the creator of the licensed “Christensen Method,” implemented by organizations worldwide.
A mother of four and grandmother of four, Christensen brings a wealth of lived experience to her debut publication.
Découverte (Discovered) is available in paperback for $27.00 and as an eBook for $22.00. The 84-page book can be purchased through Dorrance Publishing. ISBN: 979-8-89211-039-6.
