Stuck Up & Stupid, the ABIA-shortlisted young adult novel by Australian mother-daughter duo Angourie and Kate Rice, has been selected for Reese’s Book Club, marking a significant achievement for the debut authors.
Originally published in November 2023 by Walker Books Australia, the novel is a contemporary retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Set in the present day, it reimagines Austen’s classic themes of romance, wit, and social critique through the lens of modern adolescence.
The selection by Reese Witherspoon’s influential book club coincides with the novel’s international launch. This week, Stuck Up & Stupid was released in both the United States and the United Kingdom, featuring a redesigned cover adorned with the distinctive Reese’s Book Club seal. Updated editions bearing the sticker will be available in Australian bookstores later this month.
The recognition is expected to further elevate the profile of the novel, which has already garnered critical acclaim and a strong local readership since its initial release.
