A new romantic comedy novel, Lesson in Love, has been released by Dorset-based author Nina Wynter, drawing from her personal experience in the education sector.
The novel follows Holly, a newly qualified teacher who is recovering from a series of personal setbacks—being cheated on by her boyfriend and losing her dream job. As she embarks on a new teaching role, Holly resolves to avoid relationships, but her plans are complicated when she discovers that her mentor is none other than Alex, her first love who heartbreakingly broke her heart a decade ago.
Set against the backdrop of a school, Lesson in Love explores the complexities of love, family dynamics, and personal growth. With an emphasis on the emotional intricacies of human relationships, Wynter’s novel delves into the challenges of navigating life’s twists and turns while working in an educational environment.
Wynter, who has worked as a teacher for several years, explained that choosing a school setting for her story was intentional. “Romantic comedies offer an escape into a world where, despite struggles, the characters often find their happy ending,” she said. “But they also reveal the complexities of human connections.”
She further shared, “Having worked in education, I believe there’s no other workplace quite like a school. I was particularly drawn to the idea of a character who, at the start of her teaching career, is also dealing with a personal crisis and then unexpectedly reconnecting with her first love.”
With a blend of humor, romance, and emotional depth, Lesson in Love promises to resonate with readers who appreciate both light-hearted escapism and a deeper exploration of life’s challenges.
