Netflix has announced plans to adapt The Secret of Secrets, the forthcoming mystery novel by bestselling author Dan Brown, featuring his iconic character, Professor Robert Langdon.
The new series will be co-created by Dan Brown and Carlton Cuse, acclaimed showrunner and executive producer known for his work on ABC’s Lost and Netflix’s recent medical procedural Pulse. Cuse will also serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on the project. Emma Forman will join as an executive producer for Genre Arts.
The Secret of Secrets follows Langdon as he races against time and ancient forces to find a missing scientist whose revolutionary manuscript holds discoveries poised to reshape humanity’s understanding of the mind. Netflix described the adaptation as a blend of futuristic science and mystical lore.
Professor Robert Langdon first appeared in Brown’s 2000 novel Angels & Demons but gained widespread fame with the 2003 release of The Da Vinci Code. The character was portrayed by Tom Hanks in the 2006 film adaptation of The Da Vinci Code and the 2009 adaptation of Angels & Demons.
Netflix has yet to announce casting details for the upcoming series. Brown’s novel is scheduled for release on September 9.
